In 2014, Unibán initiated the process to adopt the Good Agricultural Practices – GPA standard, granted by Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario – ICA, to prevent the risks associated with agricultural production and food safety assurance. This standard aims to recognize the work of the producers by giving them a certification that makes them more competitive in the international markets.

The forty-one plantain producers from Urabá who have already been certified, guarantee not only the supply of high-quality fruit, safe products that improve the diet the eating habits of the consumers and the protection of the environment, but also the provision of workplace security, optimal health conditions and control of the production.
