It was constituted in 1970 to commercialize the fruit in the United States and Canada markets, with the same quality standards as the transnational banana companies and with competitive costs.
The first Turbana exportation to the United States was of 20.000 banana boxes and 200 of plantain, and accomplished first year sales of $3 million dollars.
In 1974 it was chosen as the most distinguished Latin company in the United States taking into account the volume of gross sales, profits, customer and bank references, among other aspects.
It was the first company different from the multinationals to enter the North American market. It is currently the fifth banana importer of that country and the first of plantain.
Its offices are located in Coral Gables, Florida.
